While the
holidays are a magical time for families with young children,
they can also be a time of financial stress. The additional
expenditures for holiday means, trips, decorations, and, of course,
presents will challenge most household budgets.
Children often unwittingly contribute to this stress by making
long costly lists of consumer demands. And, why not?
After all, Santa Claus is footing the bill, so why not take advantage
of this cash cow?
Parents are saddled with a tough choice. Do they "fess
up" so that they can explain the constraints of family income
on gift giving? Or, do they delay the inevitable disappointment
that comes when gifts aren't under the tree?
