Dr. Steffen is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals live full and meaningful lives at every age. She has a part-time practice as a faculty clinician with UM-St. Louis Community Psychological Service. Dr. Steffen’s specialty is psychotherapy and family consultations for challenges occurring at midlife and beyond.
Physical and emotional health concerns are connected. Especially during key life transitions, people can benefit from support in stress management and healthy living. Dr. Steffen works together with her clients, at their pace, to create and implement an individualized wellness plan based on their needs. Therapy relationships are confidential to ensure privacy and comfort.
Dr. Steffen utilizes a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach in her work with clients and as a clinical supervisor. Dr. Steffen is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Missouri and certified in Geropsychology as well as in Behavioral & Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. She has over 100 publications and conference presentations, and was co-editor for Handbook of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies with Older Adults (Springer Press, 2008).
