Seeking ... Class of 1968 of
Ella Flagg Young Elementary School
Do the names Casey, Atlas, Dillon, Heimerdinger, and Henderson ring a bell? Does the
picture above look familiar? Did you wear ribbons
like those to your right? Did you sacrifice your lunch hour to singing? Do
you own a copy of Rehersals on Parkside? Did you write your English papers
with a "cartridge pen"? Did you learn to sew and knit on Wednesday afternoons? Did you sing at WBEZ-recorded Board of Education Christmas concert?
Do you recognize the people in this photo?
If so, we want to hear from you! If you were one of the people who were with us at Young -- student or teacher -- please email Vicki Sauter
or Melanie Loss Whapham.
Other News
Do you know what Ella Flagg Young did to earn having a school named after her? Neither
did we, but check it out! Upon her death in 1919,
Jane Addams wrote of Young, "She had more general intelligence and character than any other woman I knew." Why didn't they
tell us these things?
Did you know Miss Casey died in June, 2005? Read the sad story, view her
obituary as it appeared in the Chicago Tribune, and view the obituary guestbook.
Some of us are having reunions -- check it out!
Finally, are there any other EF Young classes out there having reunions? We have alumni from several classes who are looking for classmates -- Check it out! We have also found one group
who have photos posted at http://www.davidhallphd.com/austinphoto4.html.
