Chapter 25, Horatius Maecenati commendatur

Chapter 25, Drill a: Practice using ut, cum and dum in dependent clauses.

Each Latin sentence includes a dependent clause introduced by an English phrase in parentheses which could be translated by using "ut", "dum" or "cum". Provide the correct Latin conjunction and verb, some indicative and some subjunctive.

Example:
Quintus (although he loved) fundum Sabinum, tamen Romam arcessitus saepe ibat. Answer: cum diligeret

1. Vergilius Horatio imperauit (to follow) se ad Maecenatem.
2. Vergilius Horatium ad Maecenatem duxit
(in order to introduce) eum. [use commendo -are]
3. Horatius tam uerecundus erat (that he could) pauca fari.
4. Horatius, (as/when he came) coram Maecenatem, pauca
loqui potuit.
5. Vergilius, (when he had taken/led) Horatium ad Maecenatem,
eum laudauit.
6. Horatius domi manebat (until) Maecenas eum (summoned.)
7. quodam die, Horatius, (when he was writing) carmina,
Vergilium accedentem uidit.
8. Horatius in horto sedebat (when) Vergilius
(approached) [use accedo -ere]).
9. Quintus, (when he is) in fundo, carmina scribit.
10. Horatius, (whenever he was able) carmina scribere, gaudebat.
11. (When we return) domum, cenabimus.
12. Horatius (while he was resting) in fundo,
multa carmina scripsit.
13. (When) alii eum (despised), Horatius doluit.
14. Horatius, (while he is) in fundo, carmina scribit.
15. Horatius est laetus in fundo, (as it seems).
16. sol iam ortus erat (when) Horatius (set out) Romam.
17. Horatius, (although he wanted) esse in numero amicorum
Maecenatis, tamen uix audebat sperare.
18. Maecenas carmina Horatii adeo diligebat (that he summoned)
eum.
19. Horatius exspectabat (for his friends to arrive
[until his friends should arrive].)
20. Vergilius, (since he esteemed) carmina Horatii,
saepe eum laudabat.
21. Horatius in horto sedebat carmina meditans
(when Vergilius arrived).
