The UMSL Writing Center

Welcome to the Writing Center!

The UMSL Writing Center is a space where all writers can discuss, practice, and strengthen their writing skills. Our qualified consultants are active listeners and readers who assist writers of all kinds at any stage of the writing process by offering useful tools and guidance in an environment of respect, enabling them to become active agents in their education and find their academic voice.

We offer assistance in three ways:

Make an appointment with a writing consultant and bring your papers, projects, and presentations with you. Work on your papers here, or just come hang out!

Make an online appointment and upload your writing for feedback. Based on your needs, our consultants will work with your writing and send it back to your email with revision suggestions.

Make an online appointment and meet live with a writing consultant. Use chat, video and/or audio to discuss your writing, work in real-time, and get new ideas to move forward.

Busy semester? Online help might be the most feasible. However, our best sessions happen in person, where spontaneous ideas tend to find their way into our work. Please note: The Writing Center has relocated to Social Science Building (SSB) 103.
