UMSL Campus Recreation Building Policies

The Recreation and Wellness Center offers a first class recreation facility to students, faculty, staff, alumni, corporate partners, and community members. A membership gives you more than just access - we have a wide variety of equipment, classes, programming, and recreational opportunities. For more information, stop by the Triton Trading Post upon entrance to the facility. 

Our memberships are offered in set terms and paid all up front or open-ended. Our set term memberships are 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months.  Members purchasing a 9 month membership will receive 5% off and members purchasing a 12 month membership will receive 10% off. 

1 month memberships, which require no commitment past initial term and do not require a cancellation period, have a $5 administrative fee added on to the total cost each month. 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, 12-month, and Open Ended Memberships do not have this added fee.

In order to purchase an Individual +1 and/or Family membership, all persons must be able to prove they live in the same household are related. Memberships cannot be transferred once purchased. This includes substituting family members on a family membership.

Silver Sneakers/PRIME/Renew Active/One Pass

Silver Sneakers/PRIME/Renew Active/One Pass are offered to Medicare-eligible and group retiree members of participating health plans. Eligible SilverSneakers or Renew Active members receive a basic membership to the Recreation and Wellness Center at no additional cost. Call the number on your health plan ID to learn more. 

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro ready for the next challenge, SilverSneakers and Renew Active offers a variety of options for all fitness levels and abilities. SilverSneakers and Renew Active give you access to equipment and classes. SilverSneakers or Renew Active members at the UMSL Recreation and Wellness Center are able to attend group fitness classes at no additional charge and they have full use of our 100,000 square foot facility. 

Bring your SilverSneakers or Renew Active card to the Triton Trading Post at the UMSL Recreation and Wellness Center, and one of our Member Services Staff will be able to assist you. If you do not have a card, bring a valid photo ID and your health insurance card into the Membership Office during open hours and our staff will gladly assist you. 

We currently offer Group Fitness Classes, with some geared towards SilverSneakers and Renew Active (check the Group Fitness Schedule for days/times). SilverSneaker and Renew Active Members can attend any of the classes on the schedule. 

Membership and Program Online Access Portal

Already signed up for a membership, and you want to view your account? No more waiting in line to talk to Membership Services about your account; you are able to edit your membership and financial account information with the click of a button! You have the ability to update your contact information, preferences, and credit card information for those last minute changes. You can even view past purchases and keep track of your visits.

Membership Payment

Payment options include major credit cards, debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo, personal check and cash. Payroll deduction is available for all full-time, benefits-eligible UMSL employees. Payment options for open ended memberships include credit card only - must be set up as a draft on your online account.

Guest Passes

Guest passes are available for members to purchase for guests at $10/day. Guests must be sponsored by a current member to gain access to the facility. Guest passes have the same access to all programs and services as members do (excluding towel service). This guest pass is for one entrance only, guest may not exit and re-enter the facility at a later time.

Locker Usage Policies

  • All lockers are the property of the Department of Campus Recreation.
  • Lockers may be used for legitimate recreational purposes only.
  • Any open locker is available for day use only. 
  • Day use lockers found to be in use after close each night will be opened and contents will be removed by staff. Contents will be inventoried and stored in lost and found for 15 days; after which the contents will be discarded or given to charity. 
  • Rental of a locker is first come, first serve. Only lockers located in the community locker rooms are available for rent. Locks provided by the Recreation and Wellness Center must be used for Rental Lockers. Dependents and members under the age of 16 are not permitted to rent a locker. 
  • Payment for rental lockers is non-refundable.
  • Minors are not eligible to rent a locker however children over the age of seven may use a locker room unsupervised.
  • For questions or problems, members can ask a staff member or go to the Welcome Desk for help. 
  • Certain occasions require Campus Recreation employees to access occupied lockers (i.e., unreturned equipment or facility risk). On these occasions, members will be notified.
  • All lockers are cleared of personal contents on an annual basis for inspection, repair and cleaning. Members will be notified, but if their contents are not removed, contents will be inventoried and stored in lost and found for 15 days; after which the contents will be discarded or given to charity. Please Note: Locker clear out service may be offered in the future for a nominal fee or charged to members’ accounts for the services rendered. **At this time, all contents of lockers that are left after the locker expires, will be thrown away unless deemed valuable by our staff**
  • Photographic devices may not be used in the locker rooms and restrooms.
  • The Gender Neutral Locker Room is located outside the Natatorium. All are welcome to utilize this space.
  • Children under six years of age must use same sex locker room.  

Towel Service

  • Towels are available at the Welcome Desk and must be returned to the Welcome Desk before exiting the facility. 
  • Large (bath) and small (hand) towels may be used by all members free of charge.
  • Members will be given a choice of a large bath towel or small hand towel and towel will be checked out under their account. 
  • Replacement towels will cost $2.
  • Theft, misuse or damage to towels is subject to loss of membership privileges. Please Note: If towel loss is deemed too extreme, the department will offer a lesser value towel and may develop a towel fee.
