The Department of Biology offers a variety of certificate programs to enhance the graduate education in biology. Graduate certificates may be earned as part of the M.S. or Ph.D. program, or independently, without a graduate degree.
Graduate Biotechnology Certificate Program
The biotechnology program provides academic specialization in a rapidly growing field that encompasses molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology. The program emphasizes both the fundamental principles that underlie biotechnology as well as the techniques that are used in their application. The program includes a certificate that can be earned independently or in conjunction degree in biology. Students in the program have access to state of the art equipment, including an automated DNA sequencer. In addition, they are encouraged to participate in research or internships, to gain practical experience in this rapidly expanding field.
For students looking at a Biochemistry and Biotechnology degree program, which includes a more focused course of study, more information can be found at the BCBT homepage
