Thursday, August 8, 2013 -- MSC Century Room C
This Forum is a one day program held on campus before the fall semester. It is designed for chairs, deans, associate/assistant deans, and directors. New chairs are invited to an orientation for the first hour (beginning around 9:00 AM). Deans and directors attend with their 'cabinet teams' and convene at 10:00 AM. The agenda includes: A discussion of legal issues relevant to working in a University and essential knowledge for administrators, faculty, staff, and students. An attorney from the UM General Counsel's office is present to support this discussion; An update on UMSL initiatives, policies, and procedures important to know as the academic year begins; Questions about policies and suggestions for topics may be sent to Peggy_Cohen@umsl.edu.

Part-time Faculty Orientation

UMSL hosts a campus orientation for new part-time faculty. Orientations are designed to introduce: (1) campus services which support faculty and students; (2) campus supports for teaching and learning including integrating technology into courses; (3) service-learning and civic engagement opportunities; (4) research and funding opportunities.

Graduate Student Conference

Offered annually, the GSC is a two-day professional development conference for all graduate students. A joint effort of the Center for Teaching & Learning and the Graduate School, the GSC provides workshop, networking, orientation, resource, and development opportunities for every level of grad student, across all disciplines. Specialized sessions for students whose graduate assistant duties include teaching and research address the needs of both beginning and more experienced TAs and RAs. All sessions are offered in three concurrent tracks: Surviving &Thriving in Grad SchoolProfessional Development, and Teaching & Learning.

New Faculty Orientation - Full-time - Two-day Event
Wednesday, August 14 - 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Millenium Student Center - Century Room C (MSC-C) AND
Thursday, August 15 - 9:00 AM; JC Penney Building 202 (JCP202)
NFO is designed to acquaint new full-time faculty with UMSL policies, procedures, technology resources, and support services for both students and themselves. This two-day program includes an introduction to UMSL supports for research and scholarship and  teaching and learning. A Campus Tour and Reception hosted by the Chancellor are highlights of this orientation to campus.

Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference

The Focus on Teaching and Technology Conference is a regional conference created to highlight best practices in using technology in higher education pedagogy. The conference consists of hands-on workshops, small group learning sessions, and a keynote presentation from a recognized expert in technology implementation.
