"Vacation Pose" and "A Lovely Moonrise" stem from the same idea: that my father could not make a landscape photograph without people in the front of the picture. On vacation, he would see a good place, stop the car, and we would all pile out to pose in front of the scene. I'm sure that if we were space travelers touring one of the moons of Saturn, and the planet rose over the horizon, one of us would have been out in front.

Technical Stuff:

The tripod and camera were made in Ray Dream Designer. Oddly, making it was simpler than trying to find the right tripod, photographing it, having it printed, and then scanning it. Plus, I have a camera and tripod file that I can use for other pictures.

The rest of the picture comes from an old slide that my father made (again, me posing in front of some landscape out west) and from a NASA photo of Saturn.
