"A Lovely Moonrise" is a composite of a "scenic" picture of my Dad's - my mom and my sister in front of the Grand Canyon - with a landscape made in a fractual landscape program, and a NASA image of Jupiter's moon Io. It could be considered a pair with "Vacation Pose"

Technical Stuff:

The basis for this image is a slide my father made on vacation in Arizona. The landscape was my first attempt to create an alien world in a landscape program. I used a shareware program called "Fractual!" which, for its time (and considering its price) was a good starter kit for this type of image. (I would use Bryce or Vista Pro for this now.) Io came from a NASA image. I still like the way the purple haze (pun intended) blends with the starfield sky and also defines the distance between the landscape, Io, and the stars.
