Toni Douaihy graduated from UMSL with a double major in Spanish and History. Toni has had a fascination with history ever since she was little, particularly remembering the centuries old books and novels that were inherited from her family. She originally considered becoming an educator but found that she just couldn’t see herself in the position. Instead, after her graduation at UMSL, Toni went on to get a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Toni currently works as the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Macy’s. In her day-to-day, Toni has a lot of responsibilities, many of which are made easier by her History degree! Through her excellent History skills in both reading and analysis, she can help her team interpret both old and new laws, as well as figuring out the spirit behind those laws. Toni loved her time at UMSL and chalked her success at our university down to educational staff that both cared for her and pushed her to be the best that she could be. She believes that UMSL is a university that is filled to the brim with talent on both the student and faculty levels. Toni’s advice to students is this: slow down, take a step back, and analyze your situation. She recommends flexibility as the best characteristic to have when dealing with stressful situations and to rely on others when you need to!
