Hilda and Roy Bergmann Scholarship for Literature
Recipients of the Bergmann scholarship receive $5,000 that must be used to pay for undergraduate tuition.
Applicants must:
- Be declared English majors enrolled in the university and entering or continuing their junior year (at 60-90 credit hours) in January of the application year.
- Submissions must include a critical paper endorsed by a department member and may also include records of published prose or poetry or writing awards.
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.7.
A student can receive only one Bergmann scholarship but is eligible for an English Department Scholarship in the senior year. Interested students must complete a FAFSA and the UMSL scholarship general application.

Florence P. Vogel Promise and Opportunity Scholarship in English
Scholarship Criteria:
- Be a Missouri Resident
- Have an expected family contribution of $12,000 or less; must fill out the FAFSA
- Be an Undergraduate English Major
- Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA or better
