"He doth nothing but talk of his horse."

-Shakespeare, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, Act I, Scene ii, Line 43

EQUINE-L is NOT an academic discussion list. A list subscriber can
always find things of value in any ongoing electronic discussion, but
non-equinophiles will find little of interest by subscribing to a very
talkative EQUINE-L. Discourse is extremely civilized and well written.
Information ranging from lengthy messages about endurance training,
selecting the best horse magazines, or where to send your contributions
to save "the Lippizaner of Yugoslavia" are written for true horse
fanciers. Not surprising, a large number of messages were posted
regarding the lack of coverage of equestrian events in the Olympics, as
well as an excellent cooperative effort by subscribers to share what
little information was available.

Being a regular subscriber to several lists which regularly chew on the
problem of intellectual rights in the electronic universe, I realized I
wasn't in Kansas anymore when several messages offering to tape and
share the Olympic triplecasts went unchallenged.

If you are not a horse fancier (or a social scientist interested in
plumbing this particular cyberspace tribe) you will serve neither
yourself nor the list by subscribing. The introductory material that
subscribers receive should be read carefully before posting any messages.
