Max Gillman, Friedrich A. Hayek Professor in Economic History, has announced the creation of a new Graduate Award starting in the Fall of 2019. The F.A. Hayek Masters in Economics Student Assistantship Award is being granted on a continuing basis. The Award includes a stipend; graduate tuition is covered as part of the appointment as well. The Department of Economics is excited to have this additional student funding available for the recruitment (and/or retention) of highly qualified graduate students.
The Manjarrez Hawn and Centene Charitable Foundation Scholarship in Economics is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate student who is majoring in economics, has demonstrated academic merit, and is from an underrepresented population in the economics discipline.
The Sharon G. Levin Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) junior or senior major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit and financial need.
The Sangdow Tuly Scholarship in Economics is awarded annually to a full-time degree-seeking student majoring in Economics, with consideration given to factors including a recipient's financial need and future potential in Economics-related professions. Alumnus Suchon Tuly (B.S. '97, M.A. '98, Economics) established the Sangdow Tuly Scholarship in Economics in honor of his mother. Sangdow Tuly was the world’s best mother; she dedicated her life to being a loving mother, grandmother, caregiver and nurse. Sangdow valued the importance of education, and this scholarship will help future Economics students in their pursuit of a degree.
The Robert L. Sorensen Scholarship is awarded annually to either a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate major in economics, or to an economics MA graduate student with at least 6 credit hours in economics, who have demonstrated academic merit.
The Elizabeth M. Clayton Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) junior or senior and to a half-time (6 hours or more per semester) graduate student who are majoring in economics and have demonstrated academic merit.
The Economics Alumni Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit.
The Robert Loring Allen Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit.
The Thorstein Veblen Essay Award is given each fall to an undergraduate student and a graduate student who are deemed to have written the best general economic topic essay (paper) during the previous academic year.
The Simon Kuznets Essay Award is given each fall to an undergraduate student and a graduate student who are deemed to have written the best quantitative aspect of economics topic essay (paper) during the previous academic year.
