26 years of responsive volunteer tax assistance services to the St. Louis communityNovember 1998 Dear Friends:The University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Business Administration recently completed its twenty-sixth year of responsive volunteer income tax assistance services to the St. Louis community. Our forty volunteer tax preparers, through our sixteen locations, provided assistance to more than 800 taxpayers and their dependents and logged more than 1,000 volunteer hours, completing 1,400 plus tax returns. We continue to deliver, without charge, the largest and most complete personal income tax service to the senior and low-to-moderate income taxpayer in the region. The foundation of success of our program is our cadre of student and other volunteer donors, providing a needed high quality service to area taxpayers. Our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) service tradition has involved about 1, 100 volunteer tax preparers, linked with our dependable co-sponsors (e.g., area libraries, senior programs, municipal governments and the IRS). Our internal (UM-St. Louis based) partners include the Gamma Psi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (national accounting honorary), our Accounting Department, other faculty and staff and the Office of University Relations. We would like to applaud our nominee, the Ferguson Municipal Library (Mr. Fred Moore Director) recognized as the IRS District 1998 VITA Site of the Year. We thank our many stakeholders, including our clientele and volunteers for another successful year in service. See you in 1999 for year #27! For More Information Contact: |
