As we approach the Fall 2024 semester, UMSL Facilities has important updates to share about the Transform UMSL projects in progress at the North Campus Quad. When classes begin on August 19, 2024, several Transform UMSL projects will be in construction around the quad.
SSB Elevator Addition: 90% complete.
SSB Tower Deconstruction: Paving the way for a new building addition - in process.
SSB Modernization and Expansion: Footprint expansion and beautification - in the design phase.
Thomas Jefferson and Mercantile Library Renovation: Student-focused spaces on the main level including the Cafe area, north side entrance and the art gallery - in construction
The North Campus Quad was closed this summer and a perimeter fence was installed to protect our campus community from various construction activities. Please respect all construction fencing and signage for your safety as you travel around the quad.
Wayfinding Map
The directional wayfinding map was created to help UMSL students, faculty, & staff navigate around the construction zones in the North Campus Quad. This map shows the active construction zones and the best routes to navigate around the North Campus Quad.
Parking
UMSL Facilities recommends that students, faculty, staff, and potential visitors park in the MSC parking garages located on the east side of North Campus during construction. The quad will remain most accessible during construction via the MSC bridge.
Campus Sub-Committee Coordination
A campus sub-committee was formed in May 2024 to review routes and identify areas in adjacent buildings where directional signage could be improved in anticipation for the North Campus Quad closure. This sub-committee included members of Disability Access Services, Marcom, Facilities, UMSL Bridge Program, and other impacted groups. The sub-committee provided input on accessible routes, wayfinding maps, and directional signage.
UMSL Facilities will communicate regular updates throughout the semester to assist our campus community with navigating around construction activities and anticipate planned disruptions.
