Dear University Community,
UMSL Facilities Management continues to move our Transform UMSL initiatives forward as we reimagine and redefine our campus footprint through targeted investments. We have posted an updated Project Report to share our progress and timeline.
Just this week, more than 50 donors, supporters and campus representatives joined us for a ceremonial groundbreaking to mark the start of our comprehensive renovation of the University Libraries. Here, UMSL is working to create a more modern, engaging and flexible library to meet the needs of scholars and library patrons now and well into the future.
Cara McKedy and Kristen Malloy of eddy Design Group, the WEB-certified design and architecture firm that developed plans for the renovation of the libraries, joined Chancellor Kristin Sobolik, Executive Director of Facilities Management Matt Prsha, Design Project Manager Blake Sutter, and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Tanika Busch during a ceremony to mark the launch of the renovation of University Libraries held May 1.
We’re also preparing for the demolition of the J.C. Penney South Building to make way for the new Richter Family Welcome and Alumni Center. This new 31,000-square-foot center will be the gateway to UMSL for prospective students and their families and a permanent home for our more than 110,000 alumni. We hope you'll join us for the formal groundbreaking ceremony on June 6.
