Welcome to the Touhill
The Touhill staff manages several collaborative relationships and programs that, along with campus and community partners, to bring together a diverse season of dance, theatre, music, festivals, and special events.
Designed by the renowned architectural firm I.M. Pei, Cobb, Freed and Partners, the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center is a landmark performance facility on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). The Touhill was built to provide a performance home for campus events, academic programs, and regional arts organizations. The spectacular venue contains three performance spaces; the Anheuser-Busch Performance Hall with 1600 seats, the flexible E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater with seating for up to 375, and the open-form Whitaker Hall with seating for up to 250. The Center hosts an average of 120 events, 200 performances, and 90,000 visitors per year.

Arianna String Quartet: Everlasting
In an evening dedicated to revolutionary style, sound and ideas, the ASQ presents three masterpieces, by Prokofiev, Debussy and Dvorak, whose innovations in expression helped spark the boundless creativity of the 20th century. Prokofiev’s Quartet No.2 opens the concert with irrepressible folk-inspired sounds of the Caucasus Mountains, and is followed by Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor, where influences of world-music and exoticism blend to create a tapestry of color, light and energy. Dvorak’s Quartet in A-flat Major, Op.105 closes the evening with a journey through lush melodies and harmonies that are full of nostalgic reflection and inspiring optimism. Arianna String Quartet: Limitless
The ASQ presents an evening of musical giants, opening with Haydn’s eloquent quartet in G Major, Op.54, No.1, where we have the opportunity to experience the father of the string quartet at the height of his compositional brilliance, and closing the evening with Schubert’s Quartet in G Major, a musical epic like no other. Highlighting the evening is the return of Grammy Award-winning oboe virtuoso, Alex Klein, back to the Touhill, for another thrilling collaboration with the ASQ!

Arianna String Quartet: Timeless
The Arianna Quartet closes out their St. Louis season with a gathering of timeless chamber music powerhouses that present a balance of elegant clarity and intimate expression. The genius of Mozart is on full display in his Quartet in B-flat Major, K.589, where a synthesis of perfection in melody and color come together to create stunning beauty. The ASQ follows with Bartok’s rhapsodic Quartet No.1, and closes the evening with celebrated pianist Judith Gordon in performance of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, a true musical tour de force. Join the ASQ for this phenomenal season finale!
