Starting in Fall 2025, The Gateway Scholarship Program will expand to newly admitted, incoming undergraduate and graduate students residing in the United States (all 50 states), Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Under the program, newly, admitted students residing in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will be eligible for the equivalent of in-state tuition rates.

Eligibility

Starting in Fall 2025, all legal residents of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will qualify for the equivalent of UMSL’s in-state tuition rates for students new to UMSL. Currently enrolled UMSL students are not eligible.

Eligible students should be enrolled in at least:

  • 12 hours per term for undergraduate students
  • 1 hour per term for graduate students

Renewal Criteria

  • Undergraduate students must complete at least 12 credit hours per semester and maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA
  • Graduate students must complete at least 1 credit hour per semester and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA

All new students must complete UMSL's free online application . Starting in Fall 2025, your residency will automatically qualify you for the equivalent of in-state tuition if you live in the United States (all 50 states), Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
