Community College President's Scholarship

The Community College Presidents’ Scholarship is awarded jointly by the presidents of the participating St. Louis-area community college campuses* and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. 

What does the scholarship cover?

Tuition for up to 15 credit hours after all grants and scholarships are applied in each of the fall and spring semesters and up to 5 credit hours in one summer semester. Scholarship can be renewed for up to two years not to exceed 60 credit hours. The scholarship does not cover any online fees, bookstore charges or nonresident fees. 

To apply for this opportunity, submit the following:

  1. Community College Presidents’ Scholarship Application
  2. A 300–500-word essay that describes why you should be selected as a Community College Presidents’ Scholarship recipient. 
  3. One reference letter. Reference should not be from a family member. References should be from a third party, such as a professional, education or religious acquaintance.
  4. Application along with required documents must be submitted to the financial aid department of the community college* you currently attend.

Important Dates

Fall Transfers: 

March 1 – Scholarship application due.  

March 20 – UMSL application and all supporting documents submitted to UMSL for admission purposes. 

Spring Transfers: 

October 1 – Scholarship application due. 

October 15 – UMSL application and all supporting documents submitted to UMSL for admission purposes. 

Criteria

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • FAFSA for the current year as well as upcoming school year must be submitted.
  • Earned an Associates in Arts (AA), Associates in Arts in Teaching (AAT), Associates of Science (AS),** or have applied for graduation for one of these degrees. Degree must be awarded before student begins at UMSL.
  • Be admitted to UMSL by deadlines mentioned above.
  • Residency Requirement - must be a Missouri or Illinois resident currently attending one of the participating community colleges.*
  • Must be first-time UMSL transfer student.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. 

 

*Participating schools: East Central College; Jefferson College; Lewis & Clark CC; Mineral Area College; St. Charles CC; St. Louis CC Flo Valley, Forest Park, Meramec and Wildwood; and SWIC.
