Engineering: First Year Experience Living & Learning Community
This community gives first-year students with similar academic engineering focused majors an opportunity to live together, and explore and familiarize themselves with all the resources that UMSL and the surrounding communities have to offer. In addition, this community will attend the same FYE Engineering course, will provide a peer mentor on the floor and in the class, and will participate in experiential learning by connecting the course-work and living on campus through out-of-the classroom co-curricular events.
Arts and Sciences: First Year Experience Living & Learning Community
This community gives first-year students with similar academic interests an opportunity to live together and explore all the resources that UMSL and the surrounding communities have to offer. In addition, this community will attend the same First Year Experience course, will have the expertise of a peer mentor on the floor and in the class to help with comprehension of the subject material, and will participate in experiential learning by connecting the coursework and living on campus through out-of-the classroom co-curricular events.
Honors: Living & Learning Community
This community of students from the Pierre Laclede Honors College (PLHC) will participate in programs that support the liberal education emphasis of PLHC. In addition to attending the same Cultural Traditions course, students in the Honors LLC will have an Honors peer mentor on the floor and in their class. The faculty and peer mentor for the course will design experiential learning components during the fall semester; these components will complement classroom activities, develop academic skills, and enhance the Honors community experience.
Nursing: Living & Learning Community
This community gives first-year students with similar academic plans of pursuing a nursing degree an opportunity to live together, and explore and familiarize themselves with all the resources that UMSL and the surrounding communities have to offer. In addition, this community will attend the same FYE Nursing course, will provide a peer mentor on the floor and in the class, and will participate in experiential learning by connecting the course-work and living on campus through out-of-the classroom co-curricular events.
