Triton Online Tutoring

If you are an undergraduate student experiencing a challenge with your course material (ex. homework, essays, notes, course concepts, studying), then Triton Online Tutoring may be a great option for you.

You can log into Zoom using your UM-System SSO and connect with a tutor who will offer support by:

  • working with you to set goals for your tutoring session
  • breaking down & clarifying complex tasks or concepts to help you resolve challenges
  • asking you questions to check your understanding & find out where you’re getting stuck
  • showing you new strategies so you can work smarter, not necessarily harder
  • boosting your motivation & confidence
  • connecting you with other resources as appropriate

The Triton Online Tutoring program offers tutoring support in certain subjects on weekday evenings and weekends. Below you will find our Triton Online Tutoring schedule in list format (displays well on handheld devices). Then you will find the same information in table format (displays best on laptop or desktop)

  • Step 1: Log into Zoom using your SSO. Do not use a personal account!
  • Step 2: Use the Login Link

What you can expect when working with our Triton Online Tutors

Availability : We usually have one single tutor working in a subject area at a time in a breakout room. Depending on the subject area and circumstances, tutors may work one-on-one or work with a group of students. In some cases, if a tutor is alternating between students and having everyone in the same room would be disruptive, you may be placed in a separate breakout room with the tutor visiting periodically to check in.

Preparation : We recommend bringing materials to your tutoring session that will help your tutor understand what’s happening in the class. Even if they’ve taken the class before, your class section is different, and you may have a different professor, so it will help if you can bring assignment sheets, notes you have taken, and your textbook. But if you don’t have these things, don’t let that stop you from coming in. We’re happy to provide support any time we’re available.

Knowledge : Tutors have deep knowledge of the subjects they tutor, and you can expect them to be highly knowledgeable about most introductory-level courses in a subject area. If they haven’t taken the exact class you’re asking for support in, they can support your learning by exploring the material together with you and guiding you with learning and study strategies.

Appropriate service : Our tutors are paid employees, and they are students as well. They take classes, work other jobs, and have families of their own. You can help maintain a positive UTC by avoiding the following:

  • Avoid asking a tutor to stay late past the end of their shift.
  • Avoid asking a tutor to make exceptions to policies.
  • Avoid asking a tutor for their contact information.
  • Avoid asking to meet a tutor outside of the UTC or outside their work hours.

Thank you for helping us to keep UTC a comfortable and positive place to work and learn.
