The safety of faculty, staff and students is a top priority of the University. To that end, the University has established procedures for early intervention to help prevent escalation of problem behavior to a crisis situation. These procedures also ensure a timely response in case of emergencies. Remember, it is only with your diligence that we are able to keep the campus safe.
- Contact Campus Police immediately at (314) 516-5155, if you are concerned for your safety or the safety others on campus. Our nationally accredited Police Department is part of a network of police and fire departments available at a moment's notice. When the situation has deescalated a referral will be made to Student Conduct and Community Standards if necessary.
- All Campus Police officers are trained to respond to crisis situations; most have additional Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training to deal with behavioral problems. Faculty who have worked with the CIT officers have been very satisfied with their response.
- If you find a student's behavior to be concerning, please contact Student Conduct and Community Standards at (314) 516-5211 as soon as possible, even if you handle it. It may be the student is exhibiting this type of behavior elsewhere on campus. A single incident may not seem important, but a series of problems can raise flags.
