We’re excited to introduce the newest addition to our campus family—a cutting-edge, agile mobile robotic dog from Boston Dynamics! While it originally comes with the name Spot, we think our new friend deserves a name that truly reflects UMSL’s identity and spirit. That’s where you come in!

We’re inviting all members of the UMSL community—students, faculty, staff, and alumni—to help us rename our robotic dog. This is your chance to get creative and submit a name that captures the innovation, energy, and Triton pride that define UMSL.

How to Participate:

  • Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at noon at the MSC Nosh Stage for the official launch of the competition! You’ll have the opportunity to submit your name ideas in person but you can also submit your ideas via the online form below now through the end of the day on Friday, Oct. 11.

The Chancellor's Cabinet, along with representatives from Student Involvement, will review all entries. We’ll reveal the winning name in the following weeks—along with a fresh new look for our four-legged friend! The winning name will officially make our robotic dog part of the UMSL family as it helps advance our work in robotics, research, and innovation.
