The members of the UMSL Piano Studio are passionate individuals who develop their technical and musical mastery of great piano literature through the guidance of their teacher, Alla Voskoboynikova. Students flourish into mature performing artists as they present solo and studio recitals, ensemble concerts, and outreach events. The piano studio also gains a competitive edge in the Midwest region as students participate in solo and concerto competitions. These students come from diverse backgrounds and seek degrees in piano performance, music business, music theory, and music education. The studio includes international students from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Bosnia.
The Piano Studio studies at a high caliber and has gained a reputation for excellence. Accomplished pianists who have given masterclasses with the studio include Natalya Antonova from Eastman School of Music, renowned pianist Olga Kern, Ivo Kaltchev from Catholic University of America, and internationally acclaimed pianist Lilya Zilberstein. Members of the studio had the privilege of traveling to Russia in 2012 to perform a series of solo and concerto concerts. Many graduates from the studio continue their education to receive a masters or doctorate and have participated in international competitions. The University of Missouri-St. Louis Piano Studio is dedicated to creating vibrant performances and establishing traditions from the Russian Piano School in each member as they grow into successful performing artists.
