The UMSL Symphony Orchestra is open to all students of the University of Missouri-St. Louis who play a symphonic instrument and have orchestral experience, as well as community members. There is no audition requirement.
Always presenting a challenging and attractive repertoire, it includes a broad variety of music styles and a full symphonic season, performing five to seven exciting concerts per year at the Touhill Performing Arts Center. In addition, the UMSL Symphony Orchestra participates in unique collaborations with our international Faculty, UMSL's Opera Theater (The Medium 2018, The Clever Artifice of Harriet and Margaret 2019), University Singers, Young Artists Competition, Composition Competition, New Music Ensemble, Composition Studio, Percussion Studio, and other external ensembles, professional musicians, and institutions.
In 2020 the UMSL Symphony Orchestra gathered with the Washington University Symphony Orchestra for a thrilling performance of Video Game, Broadway & Film music, joining more than 100 musicians on stage accompanied by multimedia effects.
