ABSTRACT: Ray Covington had been a member of the U.S. Engineers for over 35 years. His collection consists of river craft photographs and slides spanning the period from 1939 to 1965.
SCOPE: This collection has images of steam and diesel towboats, views of locks and dams, and people at work on the river.
EXTENT: 13 linear feet of photographs and slides. Over 2,000 color slides are dated and clearly note the location of boats and river scenes.
ACCESS: This is collection P-008. This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the collection may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, depending on condition. Researchers are advised to call ahead concerning changes in hours due to University intersessions and holidays. The St. Louis Mercantile Library is located on levels one and two of the Thomas Jefferson Library building.
