In the twentieth century, the captivity narrative was almost solely kept alive by private presses and the art of the fine illustrated edition-the work of Eric Gill in illustrating the life and captivity of the Jesuit martyr, Father Brebeuf (1938), or the multiple edition of the accounts of the Hannah Duston narrative created by the Arion Press (1987) are noteworthy examples of the ways in which the captivity narrative has continued to find an audience in a multi-media sense.
