ABSTRACT: Graduation scrapbook for Caroline Pehle, Maplewood High School class of 1920.

SCOPE: This manuscript, written in a book entitled “The Girl Graduate: Her Own Book,” contains notes, photographs, and memorabilia from Caroline Pehle’s time at Maplewood High School. The pages are filled with poems, autographs, and hand-drawn illustrations in addition to photographs, programs, and other ephemera. The scrapbook provides unique insight into the social and academic life of a young St. Louis woman in the early twentieth century.

EXTENT: Approximately 190 pages.

HISTORY: Caroline Virginia Pehle was born in 1901 to Gustave J. Pehle and Ottilia J. (Kemper) Pehle. She graduated from Maplewood High School in 1920. She then attended Washington University in St. Louis to study commerce and finance, graduating in 1926. Around 1927, Caroline married Norville Predock, an engineer and fellow WUSTL graduate.
