M-554 Trade Ledger Scrapbook of Early Advertisements and Magazine Clippings

ABSTRACT: Scrapbook of early advertisements and magazine clippings within a trade ledger.

SCOPE: This scrapbook was compiled within an early nineteenth-century trade ledger. The creator of the scrapbook pasted collections of commercial advertisements, lithographic illustrations, photographs, cartoons, and wallpaper samples over the existing pages. Many of the images focus on women as subjects and reflect the popular culture of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The writing from the original ledger is variably legible, with some pages fully covered by added ephemera and others left unaltered.

EXTENT: Approximately 128 pages.
