M-545 Grant, President Ulysses S. Memorial Scrapbook

ABSTRACT: Scrapbook commemorating President Ulysses S. Grant.

SCOPE: This scrapbook was compiled within a book entitled Diplomatic Correspondence: Part III, released by the U.S. Department of State in 1866. The pages feature clippings related to the death of President Ulysses S. Grant in 1885. The clippings appear to come primarily from Baltimore newspapers, including the Baltimore American and Commercial Advertiser, The Morning Herald, and The Sun. An image of Grant is tucked into the front cover, the reverse of which features an advertisement for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company.

The back of the scrapbook also includes several clippings relating to the death of Baron de Hirsch in 1896.
