ABSTRACT: Friendship album for Emma Louisa McCarty, circa 1827-1833.
SCOPE: This friendship album was compiled by a woman named Emma Louisa McCarty. The pages are filled with inscriptions from friends, which feature poetry, colorful illustrations, and some loose ephemera. Many of the signatures are paired with the names of cities, including Montgomery, New York, Windsor, Providence, Coeymans, and Paris. The red covers are adorned with gilt decoration, and “Emma Louisa McCarty” is stamped on the front cover.
