ABSTRACT: Newspaper scrapbook albums assembled by Joseph Louis Werner, longtime Director of the Mercantile Trust Company.
SCOPE: The collection consists of 8 large hardback albums of headline newspaper clippings from the World War II era, primarily the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Joseph Louis Werner (1897-1966) was a St. Louis resident, businessman, and a longtime director of the Mercantile Trust Company. He was a close friend of Joseph Pulitzer Senior, who inspired his newspaper collection.
