ABSTRACT: Record book for Excelsior Club, circa 1870s-1880s..

SCOPE: This collection includes a record book for the Excelsior Club in Edwardsville, Illinois. The pages primarily record subscriptions to various periodicals, including the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, the Detroit Free Press, Prairie Farmer, and Gleason’s Home Circle. The book’s cover lists Edward L. Smith as an agent for proprietor C. W. Bennett of Quincy, Michigan. The back pages also include a list of names and addresses for the “Correspondence Club of Edward L. Smith.” Several loose papers are tucked in between the pages of the book.
