SCOPE: The collection is comprised of newspaper clippings from the Freeman´s Journal. It concerns the the trial of fourteen individuals including several members of Parliament who were accused of conspiracy to prevent the payment of rent, resist the process of ejectment, prevent the taking of farms from which tenants have be evicted, and conspiracy to create ill will among her Majesty's subjects.

HISTORY & PROVENANCE: This Collection was purchased by the Mercantile Library in 2000.
ACCESS: This collection is available for on-site use only in the Rare Book and Manuscripts Reading Room. Some of the material in Special Collection M-240 may be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, subject to condition.
