B-15: William Rapp Photograph Collection

History: This collection was donated in 2007. Dr. William Rapp was the founder of the Railroad Station Historical Society. He was the photographer for most of the pictures in the collection, though it also includes the work of others.

Scope: One of the country's premier photographic records of railroad stations. The collection is national in scope and especially strong Midwestern stations. It also contains limited selections of foreign railroad stations. The dates of the photographs range from the 1950's to the late 1990's. Each picture is carefully identified with the location, railroad, and the date. The collection also includes many turn-of-the-century color lithographic postcards as well as some equipment photographs.

Holdings: 10,000 Prints and Negatives

Access: Collection B-15 is partially processed and the station photographs are organized by railroad and then by state and station. Most photographs have a number that connects them to a negative. The equipment and miscellaneous photographs are not processed.
