History: Donald Sarno was a nationally recognized timetable collector from St. Louis. This collection is comprised of a part of his large collection and was donated by his family in 1998-99.
Scope: Covering a broad range of collecting interests, the Sarno Collection contains original documents and publications from many railroad and other transportation companies. The collection is strongest for documents from the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (Correspondence 1886-89; 1919-21; 1923-4; 1940-55 and Accounts) and the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad (Valuation and Abandoned Property Reports as well as Equipment Records). The collection also contains selected employee timetables and maps from a large number of other railroad companies. The collection is organized into 9 series as follows: 1.) Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis; 2.) St. Louis San Francisco Railroad; 3.) General Railroad Material; 4.) Timetables; 5.) Aviation (many aeronautical charts); 6.) Mr. Sarnos research on miscellaneous transportation topics; 7.) General Maps; 8.) Wobus (mostly correspondence); and 9.) Personal Correspondence (on collecting.
