HISTORY: This collection is comprised of the working papers of the well-known railroad industry securities analyst, Isabel Benham. Ms. Benham, whose career spans nearly four decades from the 1950s to 1993, is famous for her open access proposal which would allow railroads to utilize track in much the same way that trucking firms use highways. Her collection was donated to us in the early 1990s.
SCOPE: Ms. Benhams papers include thousands of detailed railroad industry and company reports.These provide detailed investment analysis of the railroad industry or of a single company; most date from the late 1960s to the early 1990s. Also included are many industry association publications and official publications of the U.S. Interstate Commerce Commission. Much of the collection is arranged alphabetically by company name.
