UMSL Maintenance

UMSL Maintenance is responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting the physical campus environment and its core infrastructure systems, ensuring that UMSL’s facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient.

This includes the ongoing upkeep of campus buildings and their mechanical, electrical, and utility distribution systems. The team performs preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend the life of critical equipment, coordinates a variety of related services, and provides detailed estimates for paint, carpentry, and other specialty work. Clear and proactive communication with campus users about the status and progress of work orders is a key part of the department’s commitment to customer service.

The Maintenance team brings extensive expertise across a wide range of trades, including HVAC, heating, carpentry, electrical and electronic systems, glazing, masonry, metalwork, painting, plumbing, roofing, and ventilation. Their skills allow them to address diverse facility needs, from routine repairs to complex projects.

By collaborating closely with other Facilities Management units, campus departments, and external vendors, UMSL Maintenance helps create a well-maintained campus environment that supports the university’s mission and enhances the daily experience of students, faculty, staff, and visitors alike.
