Enrollment Requirements
When registering for classes with your academic advisor, be sure to remember the following:
- As an F-1 or J-1 international student, you must enroll full-time every Fall and Spring in order to comply with visa regulations. Undergraduates must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester, 9 of which must be taken on-campus. Graduate students must enroll in at least 9 credit hours per semester, with at least 6 hours taken on-campus.
- You must receive a letter grade (A, B, C, D, or F) for a course to count towards the minimum credit requirements. Grades of W, DL, EX, and FN will not be included in your total credit hours for the semester.
- If the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) has determined that you are required to enroll in an English course, you must register and complete the course as prescribed. Courses that are Recommended by the EAP program are not mandatory, though you are encouraged to enroll and complete the course as recommended. Refer to the UMSL EAP Policy for more information.
