Literacy Leadership Academy

Who Should Join?

We recognize that leaders can have specific roles within schools (e.g. administrator, coach), but we also know that classroom teachers are leaders within their own classrooms and among their colleagues. This program is suggested for any K-12 educator who wants to learn about the sciences of reading and writing for the 21st century and consider how to translate research to practice.

What Does the Program Offer?

The Gateway Literacy Leadership Academy provides a space for learning and collaboration for those who want to understand and champion the power of literacy. Working within a community of practice, educators expand their working knowledge of evidence-based literacy strategies to effectively teach reading and writing to all students. We use an action inquiry framework to dig into literacy research and critically evaluate media, policies, and instructional materials related to literacy. Educators build their identities as literacy leaders so they are empowered to advocate for students, teachers, families, and the profession.
