Location: In Person, on UMSL's South Campus, The Collabitat

Attend this workshop to learn more about HeartMath and Brainspotting therapy, both evidence-based approaches for working with clients with trauma. The skills learned can be utilized with clients in order to improve coherence, introspection, somatic and emotional attunement, deeper subcortical processing including trauma treatment, and for improving creativity and performance. HeartMath is a science and evidence-based system of techniques, based on over 30 years of research and over 500 peer-reviewed studies, used for improving coherence, self-regulation, and increasing emotional resilience. Brainspotting is a brain-based therapy using aspects of EMDR, somatic therapy, mindfulness, attachment repair, and neuroscience. It can be used to access trauma stored in subcortical parts that contributes to PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Brainspotting can also be used for improving performance and for creativity enhancement. This workshop describes an innovative approach based on clinical experiences combining brain-based and heart-based interventions that helps bring a state of coherence, increase emotional regulation, and integration for both mind and body. Participants with basic foundational knowledge in trauma treatment approaches will find this workshop offers techniques to enhance their clinical practice.
