Kristel has been working in higher education throughout her entire career and within the UM System for 16 years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus and her Master’s degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology with an emphasis in College Student Development from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her interest for advising was first sparked by an undergraduate internship as a peer advisor and continued as she worked as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Education Advising Office during her graduate program. After a cross country move to Missouri she started as an Academic Advisor for the College of Education at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Several years later she transitioned to the Coordinator of Career Services and most recently moved again to St. Louis where she is now helping graduate students in the College of Education at UMSL as they earn their graduate degrees.
