Emily Oliveira, Ph.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Education Sciences and Professional Programs and the Director of the Counseling and Social Advocacy Center @ UMSL. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing Management in 2006, her Master's in Community Counseling in 2009, and her Education Specialist in Counselor Education in 2011 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. She obtained her Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Counseling from the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) in 2016.
Prior to joining the UMSL faculty in 2015, she was an adjunct faculty member in the Counseling Program at Southeast Missouri State University as well as a Counselor and the Coordinator of Disability Services in the Office of Counseling and Disability Services at Southeast Missouri State University. While completing her doctoral work at UMSL, Dr. Oliveira was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the College of Education. She has been a licensed professional counselor since 2012.
At UMSL, Dr. Oliveira teaches clinical courses in the Counseling Program including Clinical Mental Health Counseling Field Experience. She is the full-time Director of the Counseling Programs counselor training center, the Counseling and Social Advocacy Center @ UMSL, which provides affordable, low-cost counseling services to community members in the St. Louis area and UMSL students and their families.
Dr. Oliveira's research interests include the intersection of technology and relationships, counselor development and supervision, and parent/maternal mental health.
