Lynn Navin earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University in 1984. She earned a Master of Arts in Child Development from Michigan State University in 1991. Infant Mental Health was an area of emphasis. She earned her PhD in Teaching and Learning Processes from UMSL in 2018. Her dissertation topic was on using self-video analysis as a tool for self-reflection in the study of their own practice.
Lynn Navin holds a clinical faculty position in the College of Education, and had been the director of the Child Development Center from 1992-2022 when it closed. She serves as the area leader in Early Childhood Education. She teaches the Infant and Toddler and Preschool Curriculum and Practice course each semester as well as several graduate courses in the online Early Childhood emphasis area of the MED program. Lynn oversees the university students who are doing field work within community early learning centers.
Lynn has worked at UM St. Louis since 1992. Lynn is active in many professional organizations including the National Association for the Education of Young Children. She is also involved in many Early Childhood organizations and initiatives in the greater St. Louis area including the Community Impact Network.
