Timothy Mikando Makubuya's primary research focuses on promoting wholeness, physical activity, health literacy, and teacher or coach education. He has expertise in physical activity (and its competitive form— sport), psychosocial wellbeing, and the intersections with health risk behaviors and academic perfomance. Dr. Makubuya teaches a number of courses including, psychological aspects of physical education, seminar in exercise science, and adult exercise leadership.
Dr. Makubuya is a former Ugandan National distance athlete and also a former U.S. National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship qualifier in the Men's Marathon. Dr. Makubuya currently serves as the Director of the Center for Sports Research in Uganda.
