I recently joined UMSL and the College of Education advising team. I work with both undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Educational Studies (BES) or using the new Finish Line apprenticeship pathway, and with graduate students working through their Teach in 12 or Temporary Authorization Certificate (TAC) programs.
I spent nearly two decades as a retail executive for both Macy's Midwest and Famous Barr (The May Department Stores Company). After a "career reset" compatible with two young children, I shifted to education, where I spent 18 years as a middle school math teacher in St. Louis city schools: 13 years at Long International Middle School and 5 years at La Salle Charter School. I am a passionate advocate for equity in educational access and success.
I have two grown children that I consider my best work and of whom I am immensely proud. I love architecture, baseball, cats, history, other people's dogs, performing arts, photography, sports, table and word puzzles, travel, yummy food and any time I spend with my kids, family, and friends.
I am pleased to be a part of a passionate team who are caring supporters of future teachers. It is uplifting and affirming to be in a place where all students are encouraged, nurtured, and challenged to be responsive and innovative future educators.
