Dr. Kristy Brann is an Assistant Professor in School Psychology and serves as the School Psychology Program Director. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling from Truman State University and Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Missouri. She has worked as a School Mental Health Professional, Community Support Specialist, Applied Behavior Analysis implementor, and School Psychologist and she is currently a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Kristy was an Assistant Professor at Miami University in Ohio prior to joining UMSL.
Kristy’s research and consultation interests focus on supporting proactive and preventative school mental health systems and she is a co-lead on the Ohio School Wellness Initiative where she co-developed the Ohio Model Student Assistance Program framework. Kristy researches the usability and utility of universal social, emotional, and behavioral screening systems; teacher discipline decision making; and teacher school mental health self-efficacy. She frequently uses participatory and empowerment research methods to support schools in achieving their wellness goals.
At UMSL, Kristy teaches School Psychology Practicum; School Psychology Foundations; and Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Interventions. She is currently an editorial board member for School Psychology and the Journal of School Psychology.
