Noncredit Course Information

Noncredit courses, conferences, and seminars are offered to meet the continuing education needs of adults and organizations. These activities help meet the requirements for professional development or licensure renewal for a number of professions. They demonstrate to employers the acquisition of new knowledge or competencies needed to qualify for salary adjustments and promotions and record an employee’s efforts to keep abreast of new developments in technology or an employee’s areas of responsibility. For many, noncredit programs offer personal enrichment in the arts and humanities or an opportunity to participate in discussions of current issues.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Many noncredit programs offer CEUs as part of a national system designed to recognize and record individuals’ efforts to continue their education outside of traditional credit and degree programs. Many professional associations, licensing boards, and employers recognize CEUs as evidence of skill development and professional improvement.

One CEU is earned for each 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience, under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. CEUs will be kept on record at the University of Missouri. If you wish to receive CEUs, please give your Social Security Number on the registration form.

Income Tax Deduction
The cost of continuing education is deductible for federal income tax purposes under certain circumstances. Check with the IRS or your tax advisor for specific information.

Class Cancellation, Withdrawal, & Refunds
The University reserves the right to cancel any program. In the event of cancellation, you will be notified immediately, and all program fees will be returned. If you must cancel the registration, you are entitled to a full refund only if you cancel two weeks prior to the first class. A $50 processing fee will be assessed for later cancellations up to the first class.
