Biography
Although I am primarily a social psychologist (with numerous books and chapters on self, identity, social interaction, and personal relationships) secondarily a methodologist (particularly emphasizing all sorts of observational methods as well as designs combining qualitative and quantitative methods), my teaching and research efforts have increasingly centered on applied sociology (especially program evaluation and conflict intervention). Much of my applied work concerns violence, mental illness, and homelessness, and I do considerable conflict intervention fieldwork in South Africa.
